hair 2Hair protects us and helps us preserve body heat since we lose 90% of our body warmth thru our heads. We have about 100 thousand hairs in our heads. Each hair grows approximately 6 millimeters a month and when a hair falls, another one grows in its place. It is normal to loss approximately 100 hairs a day, but if the follicles in your head die and no new hairs grow, a person becomes bald.
If a person has thick hair or thin hair depends on the size of the follicles. Hair color is determined by the melanin existent in each hair which is the same pigment found in our skin. We lose melanin as we age and when we get old our hair turns white. This color is just the total absence of melanin since the body does not produce it.
To have healthy, strong and shiny hair we must have good nutrition and have a diet rich in hair nutrients. Protein, healthy fats, and the daily intake of B complex Vitamins, Vitamin A, and Iron, are essential.
To avoid hair problems such as hair loss, dandruff and dryness, it is necessary to choose specific and appropriate products for each hair type. It is also important to protect it from chemicals, swimming pool chlorine and from the sun.

Dandruff is a scalp condition that can be controlled. Too little oil or too much oil can result in dandruff.
For hair without dandruff drink at least 2 litres of water a day; eat lots of salads, green vegetables, and fresh fruits. Combs must be washed frequently and hair should be brushed regularly and try the following:

1. Lemon Juice – Vinegar:
• Massage your hair with lemon juice after you have washed it.
• Mix 2 teaspoons pure vinegar in 6 teaspoons water and apply it on the scalp before going to bed. Tie a towel around the head. Wash your head next morning. After     shampooing, rinse again with vinegar water. Treat your hair like this once a week for at least three months.
• Mix 1 teaspoons lemon juice with 2 teaspoons vinegar and massage on the scalp. Wash your hair with an egg shampoo.
• Wash your hair with warm apple cider vinegar. Then cover your head with a towel or a shower cap and leave for about 30-40 minutes. Rinse with plain water. Repeat    2 times a week until your dandruff goes away.
• Mix 100 g of Witch Hazel and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice in 200 ml water. Shampoo your hair and apply with a cotton swab to the scalp when hair is still wet. Repeat several times until dandruff disappears.

2. Kitchen salt:
• Eliminate dandruff rubbing kitchen salt on your scalp for a few minutes and washing your hair with shampoo.

3. Baking soda:
• Dissolve 2 TBS of baking soda in half liter of water. Apply this to your hair and scalp. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash your hair normally. Repeat this            process twice a week.

4. Almond Oil:
• Take 1 part almond oil, 1 part pure sulphur powder, 2 parts 'surgical spirit' and 4 parts distilled water or rose water and mix well. Rub on the scalp.
• Massage the scalp with almond oil. Dip a towel in boiling water and wrap it around the hair. Repeat it thrice or four times when the towel gets cold.

5. Herbs:
• Make a shampoo by mixing 100 g each of amla (Indian goose berry), reetha, and shikakai, and boil in two litre of water until the liquid is reduced to half. Use this        shampoo for one month. Dandruff will vanish and your hair will become thick.
• Grind fenugreek (methi) seeds soaked in water overnight. Massage this paste on scalp and hair and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with a mild shampoo.
• Take 2 cup water, add 4-5 tablespoons dried thyme and boil for 10 minutes. Cool, strain, and use the mixture to massage scalp. Keep for half an hour.

6. Selenium Sulfide:
• Try a shampoo with selenium sulfide or salicylic acid.

Abundant, beautiful, soft, and shiny hair
For beautiful shiny hair, try the following recipes:
• Mix 4 tbs. of milk and an egg yolk. Apply it to your hair before washing. Leave it on for 30 minutes and wash with your regular shampoo.
• Beat an egg yolk with 3 tbs. of rum and apply the mixture over wet hair. Wait 15 minutes and wash with your regular shampoo.
• For soft shiny hair, add an egg to a half cup of honey, and blend. Apply this preparation to your hair and massage softly. Wait for 15 minutes and rinse with warm        water, do not use shampoo. 
• Mix an egg yolk and half a cup of yogurt. Beat well until it becomes foamy. Wash your hair lightly and dry it superficially with a towel. Apply this mixture to your          hair. Leave it for 15 minutes and wash with warm water. 
• Boil parsley during 10 minutes and rinse your hair with that water after your shampoo. Your hair will be very shiny and soft.
Aloe Vera:
• Take an Aloe Vera leaf and cut it open. Remove the crystals and apply them to your hair. Leave it on your hair for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water for minutes.
Lemon Juice and Vinegar:
• For extra soft hair add a little vinegar or lemon juice to the last rinse when you wash your hair. 
• Mix lemon juice, water and sugar. Apply to the ends of your hair. Wash with shampoo. Your hair will be extremely soft.
Cod Liver Oil:
• Apply Cod liver oil to the ends of your hair to make it softer. 
Dry and brittle hair:
1. Olive oil and Mayonnaise
• To moisturize your hair, massage it with olive oil or mayonnaise. Wet a towel in hot water and wrap it around your head for 5 minutes. Wash your hair with                shampoo.
2. Eggs and Sesame Seed Oil:
• Beat an egg white and add a tbs. of honey. Apply this mixture to your hair, massage and comb it. Then apply a tbs. of sesame seed oil and comb again. Put on a        plastic cap and wait 30 minutes or more. Finally wash your hair with shampoo.
Greasy or oily hair
Mint leaves
• Simmer 4 tbs. of chopped mint leaves in 4 cups of water. Let them cool and put them in the blender. Use this preparation to rinse after your shampoo. If you don’t      have mint you can use nettle.
• Add a Tbs. of baking soda to your shampoo.
To lighten-up your hair:
Always add a few drops of lemon juice to the water you rinse your hair with. Let it dry in the sun. The result will be beautiful blonde highlights. 
• Wash your hair with chamomile juice and alternate with an egg mixed with rum. Do this treatment once a week.
• To keep your hair blonde, rinse with an infusion of chamomile flowers. Boil the chamomile flowers and let them cool off. Strain and use the water on your hair.
Thicker hair:
• If you have thin hair, do the following: boil 3 Chonta Palm seeds (Guilielma speciosa) in 2 liters of water. Boil until water reduces to only one liter. Use this water to    wet your hair and leave it on. Comb to the back.
Hair with more body:
• Your hair will have more body if you comb it with hair gel when it is still wet; before you use hairspray and hair rollers. 
No More Grey Hair:
• Make an infusion with nut leaves. 100 grams of leaves for every liter of water. The results will surprise you. 
• If you want your grey hair to have a blonde tint to it, wash it with tea water periodically.
• To stop your grey hair from going yellow, add a little blue powder (the one you use to make your clothes whiter) to the rinse water when you wash your hair. 
Longer Hair:
• Prepare a sage and rum infusion in equal parts. Apply over your scalp and give it a vigorous massage. Repeat this operation every week or every 10 days. Blow Dried    Hair
• Before you blow dry your hair, apply a bit of hair conditioner on the ends to protect them. Keep the dryer at least 30 centimeters from your hair so you don’t burn it.
Cut your own bangs:
• Comb wet hair forward, then section off your bangs. At the point where you’d like to cut, grasp locks between your index and middle fingers (allow for shrinkage as hair dries). Pull downward and trim across your fingers. 
Hair moisturizer
   ¼ cup Aloe vera crystals (fresh from the leaf)
   1 egg
   1 honeyTbs of 
   1 Tbs of Rum

The best way to keep your hair healthy is to have a rich, balanced, and healthy diet. The lack of protein and some vital vitamins are the main causes of hair damage and loss. Other problems, like dandruff and male baldness have a lot to do with hereditary factors but you can also attack these problems with home remedies. There are, many home remedies that can help you solve those hair problems.

The loss of certain amount of hair is a normal process (It has been proven that a person loses between 60 and 120 hairs daily). When your hair is weak, hair loss increases and it can become a problem. Quinine Aguardiente is an effective remedy even for those who have a heredity factor in their hair loss there is a way to delay the hair loss process.

• Bring a liter of water and 20 - 30 grams of Rosemary to a boil. Wash your hair with bar soap and rinse with the rosemary water. You will notice the results in about a week.
Brussel sprouts:
• Boil Brussels sprouts during thirty minutes in enough water to wash your hair with. Wash your hair with this water. After that, rub your hair with sea salt. Brush your hair gently and then wash.
• Rub common salt on your scalp a day before you wash your hair with shampoo. Repeat this twice a month.
Avocado and Nettle Root:
• Chop 30 grams of Nettle root and mix with 100 grams of Avocado oil. Place this mixture in a double boiler (Bain Marie) during 20 minutes. Massage your hair with this mixture. Leave on your hair for 15 minutes and then wash with cold water and abundant shampoo.
