Some plants are beautiful and they cause you a lot of pleasure to look at, but if your cats eat them they will be quite sick ! Make sure that none of the following plants are within easy reach of your cat. If you see that your cat has eaten one of these plants and is exhibiting signs of illness, take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY, along with a sample of the plant.
Lilies are particularly poisonous!
- Easter Lily
- Japanese Show Lily
- Oriental Lily
- Tiger Lily
There are dozens of poisonous plants for cats and it is better not to have them around. You will find a complete list of these plants at the ASPCA. Just follow this link: https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/cats-plant-list
But not all plants are poisonous for your cat. Cats like to dig in potting dirt to do their business. A little vomiting, depression, or diarrhea is not harmful. For example, cats like to nibble on leaves or stems and then vomit for the purgative effect. If there’s too much illness, though, or symptoms that don’t go away after a short while, call your vet right away.
